Celebrating 35 Years of Priestly Service

ROCKAWAY – On a bitterly cold but brilliantly lit Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 afternoon, the Roman Catholic communities of St. Cecilia and Sacred Heart parishes gathered to honor Father Brendan J. Murray, parochial vicar of the two parishes, on the 35th anniversary of his priestly ordination.

St. Cecilia's Church was packed to standing room only (about 300 people) as they heard countless words of praise and good works about Father Murray from a Rockaway firefighter (Father Murray is department chaplain), fellow priests and a parish school student. A luncheon reception followed Mass in the church basement where Father Murray received a plaque honoring his service to the fire department.
