MONTVILLE - Established in 1928, The Barn Theatre
is one of New Jersey's oldest continously operating community theatres, providing dramatic, comedic and musical theatre entertainment to the Morris County area for three quarters of a century.
The Barn Theatre continues its 75th Anniversary Season with Cole Porter's timeless and classic American musical comedy, "Kiss Me, Kate". Performances
are November 15-16, 22-24, 29-30, December 1, 6 and 7, 2002 -- show times are 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00pm on
Sundays. Ticket price is $20; tickets for senior citizens and students are $19 on Sunday performances only. Bobbie Besiack directs; Warren Helms is the Musical Director.
A classic American musical, "Kiss Me, Kate"
tells the story of four actors' egocentric on-again/off-again relationships and battle of wills, all set in a "play-within-a-play" storyline of "The Taming of the Shrew." Loaded with dancing, laughter and Cole Porter classics, its musical numbers include: Another Op'nin, Another Show; Wunderbar; Tom, Dick or Harry; Too Darn Hot; Brush Up Your Shakespeare; and Always True to You (In My Fashion). Winner of five 1949 Tony Awards, the recent 2000 Broadway revival of "
Kiss Me, Kate" won five of its twelve nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical.
With choreography by Dawne Swearingen, the 23-person cast The Barn
Theatre's production of "Kiss Me, Kate" features Robin Totillo of Boonton Township as Lilli/Kate, Stuart Scheer of Wood-Ridge as Fred/Petruchio,
Billy Brisley of Whippany as Bill/Lutencio and Cindy Jung of Basking Ridge as Lois/Bianca.
The Barn Theatre is located at the end of Skyline Drive in
Montville, just minutes off Exit 47 of Route 287.
For reservations, call The Barn
Theatre Box Office at (973) 334-9320 -- more information on the play and the theatre can be found at The Barn's website: www.barntheatre.org
