Cardinals Win Over Vermont Expos

Augusta - On Monday August 26th The NJ Cardinals hosted the Vermont Expos at Skylands Park. Skylands Park celebrated Dog Days of Summer at the stadium. Fans were allowed to bring their dogs to the game to add a very unique element to the stands. Cardinals Win Big Over Vermont Expos     8-0

Augusta - On Monday August 27th the NJ Cardinals beat the Vermont Expos 8-0 to bring their record to 30-37. Monday night was also Dog Days of Summer Day at Skylands Park. Fans were allowed to bring their dogs to the game. It brought a very unique element to the crowd in the stands. (above right) Cardinals pitcher Corey Mattison pitches during game action. Mattison got the win for the game and brought his pitching record up to 5-6 for the season thus far.

CARDINALS TOP EXPOS

Monday night August 27, 2001 NY-Penn League action at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) defeated the Vermont Expos (Montreal Expos) by a score of 8-0. The win brings the Cardinals record to 30-37 and drops Vermont's overall mark to 28-40.

Corey Mattison picked up the win for the Cardinals, improving his record to 5-6. In his last start against Vermont at Skylands on August 17th, Mattison also threw 6 scoreless innings. Corey now has a 12 inning scoreless streak at home and he has walked only 3 batters in his last 18 innings. Josh Teekel worked the last three innings for his 3rd save of the season.

The two hitting stars for the Cardinals were third baseman Matt Williams 3-5 with a single, double, and homer, and Billy Schmitt 3-3 with also with a single, double, and round tripper.
