Augusta - On Monday July 23, 2001 the New Jersey Cardinals hosted the Jamestown Jammers at Skylands Park in rural Sussex County. The Cardinals bats came alive to take a 14-7 win. Augusta - On Monday July 23, 2001 the New Jersey Cardinals hosted the Jamestown Jammers at Skylands Park in rural Sussex County. The Cardinals bats came alive to take a 14-7 win. CARDINALS DEFEAT JAMESTOWN 14-7

Monday Night July 23, 2001 at Skylands Park, in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals defeated the Jamestown Jammers (Atlanta Braves) by a score of 14-7. The win, in front of 3,000 fans, was the Cardinals 3rd in a row and moves their overall record to 16-18. The loss drops the Jammers to 15-18.
Centerfielder John Nelson led the hit parade going 3-4 with a single, double, & triple. Nelson drove in 4 runs and third baseman Billy Schmitt knocked in 3. Five Cardinals had multi hits and six different players drove in runs.
Cardinals starting pitcher Ben Julianel picked up the win and improved his record to 2-4. Chris Trevino took the loss for Jamestown as his record dropped to 0-3.
The Cardinals closed out the four game set against Jamestown with a 3-1 record. The team now takes to the road to face the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates) on Tuesday & Wednesday. The club will return home on Thursday to begin a four game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians). Gametime on Thursday & Friday is 7:15 PM, Saturday at 5:00 PM, and Sunday at 1:00 PM. Thursday's promotion is a massive fireworks show sponsored by Coors Light.
