Casting Off A New Season

Great trout fishing, that's close to home.

Saturday April 7, at 8am kicked off the opening of New Jersey's 2001 trout season. Morris County boasts some of New Jersey's finest fishing locations that are close to home. This week we share a few of our favorite locations. (left) John Leibold, of Mendham; fly fishes a stretch of the India Brook in his home town. A Few Good Spots

For Trout Fishing In Morris County

On the third day of the 2001 New Jersey Trout Season we visited some favorite fishing spots to feature here. Keep in mind before tossing out that first cast, you must hold a valid fishing license and trout stamp. Before fishing, always check the local rules and regulations of the particular area you will fish. (top left) Bill Danielson, of Wharton, ties on a gold bead head as his wife Jean casts behind him. They are fishing a stretch of the Musconetcong River that flows through Stephan's State Park in Mount Olive Township.
