Morristown -
On Saturday October 6th after more than a year and a half of construction, the Morristown-Beard Capital Campaign will soon draw to a close, as three new academic buildings will be dedicated in a formal ribbon cutting ceremony. Morristown-Beard School invited the public to witness the ribbon cutting, tour of the new buildings, partake in a free picnic lunch and enjoy a host of events for the entire family. The Buildings to be dedicated, Beard Hall, Grant Hall and the Anderson Library, will mingle state of the art facilities with traditional architecture that meets the strict restoration standards of buildings listed on the national Historic Registry. Beard Hall, the main building on campus, will be fully restored to its original glory. The 1891 landmark, to be completed in late fall, will contain, brand-new office and classroom spaces in addition to faithful restorations of the buildings architectural marvels. For Example, the chapel, a fixture in the original design back in the day when the Morristown School held religious services, was, prior to construction, reconfigured as a computer room. With the restoration, the room will loyally revisit the original design and be used as an elegant space for lectures and seminars. The third floor, largely neglected prior to the renovation, will also house offices for student clubs and organizations. Grant Hall, originally built in 1896 was completely rebuilt to meet the needs of the 21st century. The new building, adhering to its original architecture, accommodates the schools world language and English departments and also provides space for two technology centers. The Anderson Library is a brand new structure that links the technological needs of a research library with ample space for over 25,000 volumes. With windows that reach from floor to ceiling, the library also boasts beautiful views of the north and east ends of campus.
