Silent Night in Pequannock

Pequannock - The First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains performed its 9th annual Drive Through Nativity Sunday December 10th, 2000. The first Christmas Eve was portrayed by 54+ church members in 6 scenes. (above) Visitors pass the scene of the Three Kings, played by Brooke Bogert; Seth Burgin; and Whitney Brewer. (right) The Angel, played by Mackenzie Cahill, informs the shepherds of the holy birth. The shepherds are played by Christine Mulder; Jamie Weisse; and Kaitlyn Mulder.

A Holy Night Recreated

Pequannock - The Drive Through Nativity a re-creation of the most holiest of nights was re-created by the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains on Sunday, December 10, 2000. The ninth annual event drew 278 cars, that carried its passengers back in time to the birth of Christ. Under the direction of Carolynn Connerton, 54+ church members held one hour shifts at the six scenes along way. (top right) The manger scene is acted out by (l-r) Cal Bickford, a shepherd; Linda Sobey, a shepherd; Doug Sobey, as Joseph; Michelle Sochalec, the angel; Sarah Lizell, as Mary; Lorene Lizell-Bickford, a shepherd; and Kerri Schoenbaechler, a shepherd. (above) "No Room at the Inn" showing Joseph (Jeff Osborne) and Mary (Lori Osborne) being turned away by the innkeeper (Katey Young) as a small shepherd (Emilee Osborne) looks on. (right) Cars line up along the Newark-Pompton Turnpike to view the nativity.
