Morristown -
This past weekend the 2000 Holly Walk took place. The event included six historic locations to be viewed in a three day period. The locations were decorated as they were for the holidays from 1750-1854. Acorn Hall; Fosterfields "The Willows"; Historic Speedwell's "Vail Mansion"; Macculloch Hall; Schuyler-Hamilton House; and Morristown National Historical Park's Ford Mansion at Washington's Headquarters all took part in this event.

Joe Youngman, playing the part of Charles Foster in 1922, greeted visitors (who played the part of Caroline Foster's friends) and gave them the history of Caroline's Christmas present that year. It was a new 1922 Model-T Ford she had received from her friends, that he was unhappy about. Mr. Foster did not like cars.

The dining room of the Vail Mansion simply decorated with holly, fir, pine greens, and pine cones which were all found on the site. The oranges would have been grown in Vail's steam-heated greenhouse. The table was decorated with 1819 Spode from England brought back on the S.S. Savannah as a gift to the family. The sleigh bed that belonged to the Vails can be seen in the first floor bedroom, known as the sick room during Bethiah Vail's bout with tuberculosis.
